Might as well write a new post about this. My favourite bittorrent application is a specially configured version of Bitcomet 0.64. It seems to bypass Streamyx’s throttling, maxing out my connection every time. You don’t have to perform port forwarding either. It seems to work better without port forwarding. You can download it here
http://www.mediafire.com/?yq7wnlwnzpi
Don’t change any of the settings for it. Just change your default download folder.
Additional Instructions:
For vista:
And if you have not increased the number of max half open connections on vista yet, do it asap.
http://torrentfreak.com/optimize-vista-for-bittorrent-emule-p2ptv/
that link will show u how to do so on vista.the default half open connections on vista is only 2 ( default for xp is only 10). This means that your computer can only wait for 2 other connections.this slows down bittorrent a lot.
Edit: Recently got an e-mail from user named ‘WARNING!’ for Vista users who have the latest security patch: Do not use this patch because it will mess up your Vista. So if this has happened to anyone, I apologize. See the comment 3 below for more info.
For windows xp:
follow this link to remove the limit on half open connections. i set mine to 500
http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497
hope this helps
PS. This seems to work best for people on windows xp. A Vista user reports tremendous increase in his bittorrent download speed by performing the TCP/IP patch.
the bitcomet is gr8…. just one thing…
it crashes too frequently… maybe i wud say within 20minutes.. i have set the half-open to 200…
any idea why or is the client itself unstable…

i dont seem to have that problem… true it can be really fast compared to utorrent or later versions of bitorrent but not all the time… but it is still more reliable… just keep checking and set you half open port to 80-100…. more doesnt mean better

The patch for TCP half open connection on Vista NO LONGER WORKS if you have updated your Vista to the latest security updates. After applying it you will not boot into Vista, even in Safe Mode and restoring with Vista boot CD wont work. Like many other people out there, I had to boot up Ubuntu from a CD and manually restore the original tcpip.sys file, which luckily I have backed up. So if you are not an advanced user, DO NOT USE THIS PATCH, it is outdated and will mess up your Vista completely. This is not a joke. The owner of this article should update it, since it damaging by now.
