Quick Movie Review

Watched Wall-E last week. Nice animation nice story nice graphics. Still prefer Kung Fu Panda though. My gf likes Wall-E a lot more than Kung Fu Panda. Possibly because of the romantic relationship between the cube and the pear? After reading the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, my expectations before watching this movie were also WAAAY too high.

Gf also wants to watch Meet Dave. I dunno… I’ve seen the preview, got really turned off by it. If I can’t stand the 1-2 minute trailer, I don’t know how I can sit through the entire 1 hour plus movie.

Special Bittorrent Client to Bypass Streamyx Throttling

Might as well write a new post about this. My favourite bittorrent application is a specially configured version of Bitcomet 0.64. It seems to bypass Streamyx’s throttling, maxing out my connection every time. You don’t have to perform port forwarding either. It seems to work better without port forwarding. that link will show u how to do so on vista.the default half open connections on vista is only 2 ( default for xp is only 10). This means that your computer can only wait for 2 other connections.this slows down bittorrent a lot.

Edit: Recently got an e-mail from user named ‘WARNING!’ for Vista users who have the latest security patch: Do not use this patch because it will mess up your Vista. So if this has happened to anyone, I apologize. See the comment 3 below for more info.

PS. This seems to work best for people on windows xp. A Vista user reports tremendous increase in his bittorrent download speed by performing the TCP/IP patch.

Thoughts

Well, at least wring and posting something makes me feel better. I STUMBLED UPON (or is it STUMBLE UPONED?) a website the talks about doing what you really love in life for a living.(Link: What Should I Do With My Life?) Me? I’m in the health care business. I get people well. That’s good enough. In the article it says that I should be really excited about what I do in life. Something that doesn’t drain me or make me feel tired at the end of the day. So that got me thinking…. Meh shit, wonder if I went down the wrong path. So what do I do now? My parents/family spent like RM 400, 000 on my education. Am I to just to dump it all away and say fuck it? What about doing what I like? I like sleeping, playing computer games, lazing around, Watching Tv, and basically doing nothing. Yes I like all that. So if I’m gonna do what I like for a living, how am i supposed to earn money by playing computer games and sleeping and watching tv? Here, go play games for me and I ‘ll pay some dollars per hour. Heh Yeah right. And no i’m not good enough to game competitively. I enjoy building computers though, but there’s a TON of other people doing that already. Maybe I can do it on the side? Here are my exact thoughts I wrote down on notepad earlier today:

Well maybe just a dream. Money is gonna be nowhere near as good as what I’m doing now though. But if it makes me happy? Shieett… At this point I will usually quite this thinking going on inside my head and put it on the back burner. ok ok, but seriously.. What do i really want to do? What if i DO start the computer thing, and then i end up not liking it anyway? Maybe once I’m stable enough I can go do this computer thing part time. Don’t think the money’s very good though is it?

Because when it comes to electronics, the only way to make business is to give better service for less price. example: cpus, motherboards, mp3 players, whatever: the price ALWAYS comes down. So if you buy stock for a certain price, and the price halves in 6 months time, what do you do with the old stock? sell it at a loss? And when people shop for electronics, they always hunt for the best bargain. Well, that’ what I do anyway. So if someone wants to buy a card, like say and nvidia 9600gt. They can hop from shop to shop, or make a couple of phone calls until they find the cheapest shop selling that video card. And even then, the person selling it will only be making a tiny percentage of the profit because he’s selling it at such a low price. So in electronics, the only way you can win and make profit is by trying to beat the market by having the lowest price available .Price wars until everyone makes barely enough to survive.

Wonder if those OEM suppliers have such a thing as, ok if you don’t sell this thing in 2 years time, we’ll buy it back from you so that you don’t suffer any loss. That will be awesome for the shop fellas. doesn’t make economic sense for the OEM suppliers though. Oh well. Shit again.

Simple movie reviews from a… human. NOT a critic:

Kung Fu Panda: Fun! Love it for the humour! One of the best movies I’ve watched this year.

Iron Man: Awesome movie too. Loved Ironman ever sinced I was browsing at Walmart, saw the comic, and just picked it up for fun’s sake.

Wanted: Bad. Sucks. And Rotten Tomatoes gave it a decent rating. WTF. wasting my money on this. Ridiculous physics. ONe bullet penetrating 5-6 skulls??? I don’t know much about guns but can a sniper bullet even do that? At least curving the bullet, you can make it up with some pseudo science, but penetrating 5 skulls? that’s just ridiculous. And the black guy character ( i know i know he’s really famous AND I KNOW his name, but err can’t remember it for now): He tells everyone that their name is on the loom/list/weave and they have to die too. And they ALL just accept it as if he’s telling the truth? They never heard of checking the damn weavy blanket for themselves and finding out whether it’s true? They just accept it ? No questioning? Heh, talking about blind belief in a higher power. Sheesh. Angelina Jolie’s still hot though. BUt what happened to her? She started loking really skinny, she’s on drugs or something?

Dark Knight: Heard so many good things about it. Brought my gf to the movie. She fell asleep halfway through. I almost fell asleep halfway through. Joker guy was… wonderfully psychotic though. Rest of the movie was just meh so so. What’s wrong with Batman’s voice though? That suit gives him a sore throat? Gruff Wrowwllll I’m Batman. He’s doing it to hide his real voice? To make himself seem more badass? I thought his voice was rather funny. And batman’s bike, is a REALLY cool concept, but why is it moving so slowly? The camera work at least helps to make the bike move a little faster. I’m surprised he managed to get to the bomb site on time.

Cod4

Been playing COD4 multiplayer for quite a bit lately. This game is VAST. Unlike CS 1.6. In CS 1.6 you learn all the usual sniping/camping spots much earlier on. However with COD4, there’s just a freaking ton load of them. It’s just nuts. I’ve been playing this on off on off for the past few months and I still haven’t learnt all of them. Sometimes I just go into spectator mode to watch how the pros play. You can learn quite a bit from there. It’s ta shame that you can’t see what perks the pros are using in spectator mode though.

This is my current setup:

-MP5, silenced, UAV jammer, and steady aim: for those really wide open spaces like Creek. I will use this setup for sabotage maps/Headquarters as well except i’ll replaced the last perk with extreme conditioning. Once you plant the bomb, Just smoke the area and wait. Smoke reallly helps.

-RPD, grip, Stopping Power, Deep Impact: For smaller maps like Crash where I can just sit and er.. shoot. Like a human automated sentry. Works good for maps like Bog too. Simply wonderful for Killhouse! This is a REALLY powerful weapon!

- MP5, red dot, Juggernaut, steady aim: For smaller maps like, backlot? strike? Where there’s a lot of running around. Love this because with steady aim, it really allows me to play like Quake, circle strafing and so on. No need to look down the sights. And Juggernaut helps a lot with staying alive too.

-M4, red dot, stopping power, deep impact: Something I’m experimenting with lately. For some maps when the Mp5 just doesn’t have enough range. Using it lately on maps like Countdown.

No sniper setups so far though. Don’t really like the sniper weapon. As for maps that I hate, I REALLY REALLY hate wetworks!!! Lots of tubing and Frag x 3 with what’s that perk… sonic boom or something? The one that improves your frag damage? Admittedly, I’m still quite a newbie at this game. At least with CS 1.6 I do decently well because I’ve been playing it for yearrsss… With cod4, still a lot of learning left to go.
